The Freedom Blue Medicare Advantage Plan

Many seniors in California participate in Medicare Parts A and B and are thus eligible to take advantage of the great freedom of choice offered by Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage allows members to choose benefit packages provided by private insurance providers instead of the standard Medicare offering. The Freedom Blue Medicare Advantage plan is a PPO plan offered by Anthem Blue Cross, which is available in three basic options – Plan 1 is a zero premium plan, while ‘Freedom Blue Plus’ provides additional cover at low premiums.

The Differences between Freedom Blue Plan Options

Freedom Blue Plan 1 has no monthly premium, and includes copay of $15 for doctor visits, and copay of $35 for visits to specialists. There is an annual deductible of $500 and an allowance of $850 for each hospital stay, and there is prescription cover provided. Freedom Blue Plus has a low premium, for which members are able to take advantage of lower doctor visit copayments. This is a smart choice for those who have rocky health and are thus likely to need to see the doctor several times per year.
