The California Health Insurance Exchange is an affordable place to find insurance, because of three different factors. They are
- Tax Credits
- These are for individuals and families that fall into certain income limits. If you are below a certain income requirement (based upon the size of your family), you can receive discounts on your monthly premium. This amount will vary, depending on your income level and the type of insurance you purchase. You can use our calculator to see what your discount will be with the California health insurance exchange.
- Medi-Cal Assistance
- This is the new insurance for people over the age of 65, and for certain people with disabilities, or who have income below a certain criteria. The income limits are currently $31,180 for a family of four, or $15,000 for an individual. This insurance will be provided at no cost to those individuals and families that qualify.
- Cost-sharing Subsidies
- This program will help you by letting you share the cost with others who need the same treatment or clinical procedure.
While this may give you an idea as to the credits available for your insurance, it still does not answer the question on how much the California Health Insurance Exchange charges for insurance. That is because each policy will be slightly different, depending on the amount of deductible, the maximum out- of-pocket expense, and the number of people covered under the policy.
