For more than 30 years, Benefit Packages has helped individuals, families, Medicare beneficiaries, and businesses navigate an ever-changing health insurance landscape.

Our goal is to make health insurance easier to understand—whether that means explaining insurance terminology, helping you understand when and how to enroll during the many government-mandated enrollment periods, or serving as your advocate when questions or challenges arise.

Our clients always come first. We represent multiple insurance carriers* and present options in an unbiased manner based on your unique needs and goals.

Our relationship with our clients does not end after enrollment. We are here to help with questions about your policy, claims, billing issues, provider networks, and annual plan reviews. We believe ongoing service is just as important as helping you choose the right coverage in the first place.

Lawrence (Larry) Hurwitz

Founder

Small Group, Medicare, Covered California & Individual Family Health Plans

It has been my pleasure to get to know people and help them with their health insurance needs since graduating from Occidental College. I also completed the CFP® education program through the College for Financial Planning.

Early in my career, I served as the benefits broker for mid-sized companies. However, about 20 years ago, I realized that individuals and businesses with fewer than 100 employees often weren't receiving the same level of service and professionalism as larger organizations. That realization led me to focus my practice on Medicare, Individual & Family Plans, and small businesses, where I could provide more personalized guidance and ongoing support.

Technology has been a double-edged sword. While information is more abundant than ever, one-on-one guidance has become increasingly difficult to find. My goal is to combine old-school customer service with modern technology, helping clients make well-informed decisions while knowing they have someone they can turn to when questions arise.

On a personal level, I am very proud of my two sons and the men they have become. I'm also enjoying the second chapter of my life, engaged to a woman whose kindness and compassion inspire me every day.

When I'm not helping clients, you'll often find me on the tennis court. I love the game because it challenges you to continually learn, adapt, and improve. Just as important are the friendships and connections that come from sharing the court with others who enjoy the sport.

Gus

Covered California, Medicare & Individual Family Health Plans

Gus joined the Benefit Packages team in 2016 as an Administrative Assistant. He quickly learned the insurance business and developed a passion for helping people navigate the often-complicated healthcare system.

He has been a licensed Life and Health Insurance Broker for the past eight years and helps clients with Medicare, Individual & Family Plans, and Covered California coverage options. He enjoys helping individuals and families find health insurance solutions that meet their healthcare needs while fitting their budget.

He takes particular pride in assisting clients through important life transitions, whether they are turning 65 and becoming eligible for Medicare, experiencing a significant change in income, losing employer coverage, or recovering from the impact of a natural disaster. His goal is to make a complicated system easier to understand and navigate while helping clients feel confident in their coverage decisions.

A Los Angeles native, Gus also spent part of his youth in Boston, where he developed a love for Boston sports—especially the New England Patriots.

Outside of work, Gus enjoys attending live sporting events and concerts, going to the movies, and is a walking encyclopedia of films and 1990s sitcoms, particularly Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Gus has been a pescatarian for eight years and enjoys cooking, especially seafood. He also loves spending time with his wife and their 13-year-old adopted pit bull, Carmine, who was named after the beloved character from the Rocky franchise.

Francesca joined Benefit Packages in 2015 as an Administrative Assistant and has since grown into a licensed agent with a deep, well-rounded understanding of the business from the ground up.

As a Los Angeles native with more than 20 years of experience in service and hospitality, she has always had a natural gift for working with people and understands the value of patience, clear communication, and helping clients feel comfortable when making important decisions.

In a world that can feel increasingly automated, Francesca believes there is still no substitute for genuine care, personal rapport, and the human touch. She enjoys being part of a fast-paced industry where there is always something new to learn. As a valued member of the Benefit Packages family, Francesca brings warmth, humor, dedication, and just the right amount of personality to her role. She takes pride in helping clients and colleagues feel supported, organized, and genuinely cared for.

Outside of work, Francesca has a deep love for life on and around the water. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a marine biologist—a passion that now lives on as one of her favorite interests. She can often be found near the ocean, on a hiking trail, lifting at the gym, or kickboxing.

Tough as she may be, Francesca is the first to admit she can turn into an absolute sobbing mess at the opera. Her favorite television shows are I Love Lucy and Three's Company, her all-time favorite movie is Ghost, and her favorite song is Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers. Her father taught her how to play it on the keyboard when she was a child, and to this day it remains one of only three songs she knows how to play—the other two being a hymn and a Christmas carol.

For Francesca, a house simply isn't a home without the ocean nearby and a good espresso within reach.
